You've done it -- planned your trip to Disney.  Isn't it exciting? You think about which parks you want to see, where you want to stay, what you want to do. All of the sudden, it seems like you have a zillion decisions to make. So what do you do?

To avoid becoming overwhelmed and frazzled, how about some Walt Disney World tips to:

  • Save time:  Don't waste your precious time when you don't have to.
  • Save stress:  Make your vacation more relaxing and enjoyable.
  • Save money after all, Disney can get expensive.

Walt Disney World Tips for Time

Face it -- you cannot see everything in one day -- in any of the Disney parks. Here are some Walt Disney World tips to make sure you can see what's most important to you!

  • Stay at a Disney Resort.  Why is this a tip for time?  Because when you stay at a Disney World resort, you can take advantage of the Disney Magic Hour, where you can have an extra hour in the park.  Only guests staying at a Disney resort are eligible, so there are far fewer crowds.

  • Pick up FastPass tickets in the parks.  The most popular attractions have what's called a FastPass, which lets you reserve a spot in line for a certain time. Then go back at the time on your ticket and you go right in -- no standing in line.

  • Study the maps when you get to the park.  Pick out the "must see" attractions and shows, then mark them on the map. See what you want in one area, then go to the next closest one.  The parks are big, and you don't want to waste time walking from one side to the other and back again.

Walt Disney World Tips for Stress

  • If you are arriving by plane and staying at a Disney resort, use the Disney Magical Express.  Disney picks you up from the airport and whisks you away to the resort.  You don't have to collect your checked luggage -- Disney does it for you, and delivers them to your room.

  • Take a break during the day! If you're staying at a Disney resort, go back to your room in the afternoon and take a rest.  If you have young children, they can take a nap, while older children can play in one of the resort pools.

  • Make reservations for lunch and/or dinner.  This will ensure you get to eat at your favorite place, but not have to stand in line to do it.  You can relax and enjoy.

Walt Disney World Tips for Money

If you've looked at Disney ticket prices lately, you know they can get expensive really fast.  Last I checked, a one-day admission to a single park was in the neighborhood of $65.  Multiply it by the number of people in your party.  And that's before any add-ons like a park hopper!

  • Don't pay the standard "gate rate", because you don't have to!  There are plenty of online and resort retailers who can give you a discount.

  • If you plan to spend more than two days at Disney, buy the 3 or more day passes.  You will pay less per day.  If you can swing it, buy the 10-day pass and add the no expiration option for the absolute best deal!

  • Water and drinks in the park are pricey.  Freeze some bottles of water and bring them with you in a tote or backpack.  By the time you need them they should still be nice and cold (and you will have saved at least $2 a bottle).

  • Food and snacks can also get expensive.  If you want a nice sit-down meal, do it at lunch -- the meal prices are cheaper.   Also consider the Disney Dining Plan for saving some cash..

More Walt Disney World Tips

I'm going to do something that I don't do very often -- recommend an ebook for more Walt Disney World tips and information.  Why?

Because I've bought and read the ebook myself and it's really, really good.

It's written by Beth Howard, who (like me) is a former Disney employee, as well as a very frequent vacationer at Disney World.  She and her family travel to Disney every year and she's learned how to squeeze the absolute most out of their time and money, so they can relax and enjoy their vacation.

The ebook is something like 90 pages, and it is full of great Walt Disney World tips.  Even I learned a lot!  Beth covers some things that I never would have thought of in a million years (and you know, I tried some of her tips on my last Disney vacation and they work)!

The official Disney World site doesn't give these tips -- they would just as soon you pay full price for everything.  And you don't have to.  Not when you're armed with information from this site and Beth's book.

So take a look at The Ultimate Disney World Savings Guide.  I just took a peek at her site and see that Beth just dropped the price -- I paid the full price and I was very, very pleased.  At the new price, it's a steal!  You won't regret purchasing it because it will save you a lot of cash on your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Florida Residents Tip

If you plan to stay at one of the Disney World resorts, here's something to consider -- get up early and drive to Disney, to arrive around 9:30 to 10:00 AM.  You can go directly to the hotel and do an early check in!

If they don't have a room immediately available, they will hold your bags for you, while you go off and play in the parks.  Then you can stop back by the resort around 2:00, collect your bags, go off to your room and take a short rest before you go back to the parks.

And don't forget about the special Disney World Florida residents rates!
