Walt Disney World Tickets

Walt Disney World tickets.  You know you need them to get into the parks, but where can you get them?  Should you order them beforehand or get them at the gate?

What about discount Disney tickets -- are they safe? What exactly is a park hopper ticket? And of course, there's tickets for Florida residents (we want a great deal too).

Let's take a look at all your options for Disney tickets.

Cheapest Disney Tickets

You know that Disney tickets aren't exactly inexpensive, but you do want to find the best discounts you can, right?  So where do you to start checking?  And what to look for when you do find them?

This is a topic that deserves more than a paragraph or two, so for more information take a look at my cheapest Disney tickets page.

Online Walt Disney World Tickets

Yes, you can buy tickets online -- there are all kinds of merchants offering everything from single day, single park passes to week-long (or more!) park hopper tickets. I know that the next time I get ready to go to Disney, I will check with the online ticket vendors.

What should you do if you decide to buy Walt Disney World tickets from an online source? I suggest that you check with several of the online ticket sellers. All of the discounts are not quite the same, but look at the whole deal -- you want your Disney World tickets to arrive on time and ready to use!

Walt Disney World Park Hopper Tickets

Okay, so what is a Disney park hopper ticket, and why would you want to buy one?

A Walt Disney World park hopper ticket basically allows you to visit more than one Disney theme park in a day. Normal Walt Disney World tickets are good for only one of the theme parks for the day.

Florida Resident Tickets

If you live here in Florida, you want a great deal on Walt Disney World tickets too! You have a choice of going with a standard online Disney ticket vendor, or checking out the Florida residents special programs.

Click for more information about the Florida resident Disney tickets.

(And before you ask -- if you are a Florida resident, you cannot buy a Florida Resident Disney ticket for someone who lives outside of Florida.  Florida Resident tickets must be picked up in person at the Disney gate or at a Disney resort and they will check everyone's ID!)

No Expiration Option

If you think that you will be coming back to Disney World regularly (yearly perhaps), you may want to consider multi-day tickets with the no expiration date option.  They do cost a little more, but they can also potentially save you more.  Disney's prices never do down.

If you purchase (for example) a 6-day pass but only use 2 days on your trip, you can use those other 4 days at any time in the future -- even if it's 5 years from now!  Personally, this is the kind of ticket I buy, because I know I can use it anytime my schedule permits.

At the Hotel or Resort

You can often get Walt Disney World tickets in many of the Orlando and Kissimmee area hotels and resorts.  The only problem I have with it is if the hotel will only sell you the Walt Disney World tickets the morning of your visit (and good only for that day).

Unless the booth opens at 7:00 AM, you will lose time at Disney (if you're like me and like to get there early).  However, if the ticket booth opens early, or if they sell the tickets the day before, that's good. Still, if you are a late riser, the hotel ticket booth is convenient any way you look at it!

To Gate or Not to Gate

When I worked at Disney World, the only option was to get your Walt Disney World tickets at the front gate.  If you didn't get to the gate early enough, you could spend part of your Disney day just waiting to get in!

There are times when buying your Walt Disney World tickets at the gate makes sense, for sure.

If you don't have access to buy online tickets (or just prefer not to), and you don't really want to stop at the Florida turnpike Disney ticket vendors, go ahead and buy your ticket at the gate.

The good news is that the lines to get that ticket aren't nearly so long anymore.
