Walt Disney World Florida

Disney Dining

Disney dining can be a wonderful experience -- good food, served quickly and with a smile. Disney dining can also be an expensive proposition -- even the fast food and snack stands aren't exactly cheap.

Whether you prefer catching a meal on the run, sitting down at a casual family-style restaurant or like fine dining, Walt Disney World has a restaurant for you.

Disney Dining Options

Walt Disney World is not without choices -- in fact, maybe they give you too many, when if comes to where to eat!

Each one of the theme parks has a multitude of restaurants.  The park with the most is (hands down) the Disney EPCOT Center .  And talk about variety! If you can't find something you like at EPCOT, you're not looking.

The park with the least in the way of Disney dining is Disney Hollywood Studio.  Not sure why, because people do get hungry.  When I was there last I saw several of the fast-food cafes were closed.  MGM does have a special VIP dining option in connection with the Fantasmic show.

The Disney World Magic Kingdom is chock-full of character dining.  And if you haven't tried it at least once, you really should.  Disney provides great food and service, along with a cast of characters.  Learn more about Disney character dining.

Last, but certainly not least, is Disney's Animal Kingdom.  The big draw here is the Rainforest Cafe, which I do recommend you try.  Hint -- if the wait for a table is long, see if there is room in the "bar" area, which isn't really a bar...

Disney Dining Plan

Walt Disney World does have a special Dining plan, where you can pay a fee in advance and have most of your food paid for when you stop at a participating Disney restaurant.

Notice I said "most" of your food, and not all.  Find out what's included on the Disney dining plan -- and what's not!.

One More Thing -- Reservations!

Disney restaurants have gotten crowded lately. If you don't want o be waiting in line forever, or don't want to have to eat dinner at 4:00 PM because that was all that was available, you should make a reservation.

And make that reservation far in advance.  Seriously.  I've been caught out and not been able to get in to a restaurant.  Even during the slow season, with a few weeks' notice.  These days I try to make the reservations at least 3 months in advance, and even then, I'm still often unable to get the restaurant I want!

You can make your Disney dining reservations up to six months in advance by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE.  For all you who (like me) prefer numbers, it's 1-407-939-3463.

The WDW-DINE phone number can also be used to book a Disney dinner show, like the Polynesian or Fort Wilderness shows.

As you can see, there are plenty of places in and around the parks to enjoy Disney dining!

Make Lunch Your Restaurant Meal and Save Money

I enjoy a good restaurant meal; one served to me at the table, instead of fast food.

Disney can be expensive, though, so why not make your "restaurant dining" lunchtime?

It's less expensive than dinner, even if you decide to go the character dining route!
