Disney Caribbean Beach Resort
The Disney Caribbean Beach Resort makes you feel at home in the tropics. Imagine sandy beaches, taking a ride on a sailboat and listening to the music of the islands -- ahh! Life is good.
Disney's Caribbean Beach resort is pretty big, covering 200+ acres. What's interesting is that there are different villages in the resort as a whole, named for different Caribbean Islands. For example, there are the villages of Martinique, Trinidad North and Old Port Royale, to name three.
Walt Disney World's Caribbean resort is located in the EPCOT area.
Disney Caribbean Beach Resort Amenities
Since this is a Disney Moderate hotel, there is limited concierge services -- just a desk. Still, Disney's normal service rivals some other non-Disney concierge services!
There is some limited room service at the Walt Disney World Caribbean Beach resort, but don't count on it for dinner, as the restaurant facilities are also a bit limited. You're better off walking on over to either one of the casual restaurants.
No health club here...but plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy!
Staying at the Resort
Here's some good news if you like spreading out some -- the rooms at the Disney Caribbean Beach resort are the biggest of all the Disney Moderate resorts. At roughly 340 square feet, you have a choice of either two double beds or one king-size bed. Each room holds up to four people.
Do keep one thing in mind, though, if you want a room with a king bed -- you can't reserve them ahead of time. You have to ask if one is available when you check in. Here's a hint -- if you can arrange your travel plans to arrive at the resort early in the day, you have a better chance of snagging that king-sized bed.
I mentioned before that the Disney Caribbean Beach resort covers some 200 acres. As you might guess, there are also a lot of guest rooms -- 2,112 in total. And because of the size, there may be some waits from time to time, especially at the restaurants and the Disney transportation.
And speaking of the Disney transportation, it's via bus to the theme parks and other Disney locations.
Where to Eat at the Disney Caribbean Resort
You have a couple of options here, as far as dining goes at the Disney Caribbean resort.
First, there is the quick-service restaurant called "Old Port Royale Food Court". It's counter-service style, and it has quite a variety, from burgers to pasta, pizza to unique goodies.
Next, there is "Shutter's", also at the Old Port Royale village at the Caribbean Beach resort. It's casual table service and serves food influenced by the islands. You'll find items like jerk chicken, smoked prime rib, wings and more. Not everything is spicy, though, and there are some non-island menu items available as well.
Now here's something many people don't realize -- if you have cravings for, say, Mayan cuisine, you can use the Disney transportation and pop on over to another one of the Disney resorts -- to try their restaurants! (And by the way, the Mayan food is at the Coronado Springs resort.)
What to Do
If you like the water, you'll love this resort.
First of all, there are six heated pools for your enjoyment. The Old Port Royale pool is the biggest, and it's themed with waterslides, water cannons and the like (can you say "Pirates of the Caribbean"?). Never fear, some pools are "quiet" for people who don't want all the noise of the big themed pool.
I mentioned before, there is a white sand beach at Disney's Caribbean Beach resort -- a fairly big beach, too! And what beach isn't complete without a volleyball court?
OK, what else? There are plenty of watercraft you can rent -- sailboat, canoe, paddle boat, Sea Raycer and more.
There is also a 1.4 mile jogging trail for your pleasure. And you'll share that same trail with those who rent a bicycle.
And finally, for the younger set, there are playgrounds and an arcade.
Theme parks? Who needs them? You've got more than enough to do at the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort!
